19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
